Governor Adeleke congratulates Osun-born scholar, Prof. Adetunji on inclusion in World’s Top 2% scientists

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has welcomed the inclusion of an Osun-born scholar, Professor Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji, in the ranking of top 2% scientists in the World, as yet another recognition of the outstanding potential possessed by the state on the global stage.

The governor celebrated Prof. Adetunji for the honor that reflects his contributions to scientific research and innovation, particularly in the fields of biotechnology, agriculture, and microbiology.

Governor Adeleke, who expressed delight at Prof. Adetunji’s incredible feat of earning a place in the repository of world-ranked top scientists, said raking the 2024 PRESTIGIOUS CAREER-LONG LIST OF WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS and SINGLE-YEAR MOST IMPACTFUL LIST OF DISTINGUISHED PROFESSORS AROUND THE GLOBE in the Elsevier/Stanford University ranking report is a prestigious honour for the Director of Research and Innovation at the Edo State University.

The governor congratulates Prof. Adetunji, for the acknowledgment of his works on the international stage, saying the interest shown in his research underscores the extensive impacts they have on advancing knowledge in his various fields of focus.

“I’m exceedingly thrilled to learn of the inclusion of an Osun-born scholar, Professor Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji, on the list of the world’s top 2% scientists in the Elsevier/Stanford University ranking report. Picking the 2024 PRESTIGIOUS CAREER-LONG LIST OF THE WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS and SINGLE-YEAR MOST IMPACTFUL LIST OF DISTINGUISHED PROFESSORS AROUND THE GLOBE is a profound feat and acknowledgment of the significance accorded his works on the global stage,” Governor Adeleke noted in a congratulatory message.

“I congratulate Prof. Adetunji for the honor that the recognition by SCOPUS confers on him and commend him for the excellence that defines his works, which earned him a place among the world’s top scientists.

“It is cheering to also note that Prof. Adetunji was ranked number 1 among the top 500 authors/scientists from Nigeria based on scholarly output for the period between 2021 to 2025 as well as continuously from 2019 to the present by SCOPUS/SCiVal at Elsevier B.V 2025. His ranking as number 1 among the top 500 authors/scientists from Nigeria in 3 different fields of microbiology, biochemistry, agricultural, and biological sciences is equally applaudable.”
