The afro-acoustic group, Gwevedzi, will this Friday return to Theatre in the Park starting at 7:30 pm.
Still riding high with their latest third album titled One which features several plug tracks including — Angelina — are expected to serenade their fans nonstop.
The two-hour performance starts at 7 pm and tickets are available at Theatre in the Park.
Rooftop Promotions, the organizers also said there would be full bar and catering services at Theatre in the Park for those who love music, food, and drink.
A spokesperson for the band, Gladmore Bvuta, said the group has been rehearsing continuously ahead of the show.
“This Friday it’s on again at Theatre in the Park as we continue to deliver the very best in music and dance. The group is excited about the show and raring to go. So far, our latest album is doing well and this something fans should look forward to,” Bvuta said.
Formed in 2016 in Harare, Gwevedzi is known for its fusion of Zimbabwe’s modern music as it samples from the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi and Leonard Dembo but the one good thing is it remains uniquely Afro-fusion.
Bvuta reiterated that the band’s quest is to also harmonize the people of the world through music.
And for those not in the know, Gwevedzi is a Shona name given to a suitor in a courtship between a young lady and a young man to strengthen the love between the two.
It consists of four members; Tinashe Masangudza on guitar, Wilfred Nikisi on bass, Nyasha Murada on lead vocals/mbira, and drummer Keith Musena.
Their debut album is Tsambo which features the hits Vhunze, Daira Ndikuone, and Bvuma Tiyemerane. The second album is titled Nhungo and carries the crowd favourites Malaicha and Ndinouya.
Gwevedzi have made Theatre in the Park their home. They have performed there more than three times since October 2021 and have also done a couple of live shows in Mutare, Victoria Falls, Harare, and Kwekwe.
Other performances include the recent Jacaranda Music Festival, and earGROUND`s Amplifaya Festival among others.
Gwevedzi has a regional experience, having performed in South Africa and Mozambique.
