Theatre in the Park will on Wednesday this week host an international climate change-focused theatre play titled ‘How is the Weather?’ played by the popular Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts (IYASA) and German’s Theatre Strahl.
Speaking to Spiked Online Media, Mr. Daves Guzha, the Director of Theatre in the Park promised audiences exhilarating entertainment through theatre while addressing the critical issue of climate change.
“I invite stakeholders from all walks of life to come to the home of entertainment, the Theatre in The Park on Wednesday 31 May 2023 from 6 PM. The play ‘How is Weather’ is going to touch on issues of climate change through theatre. Every one of us is impacted in one way or another by climate change.
“Zimbabwe has been hit by climate change-induced disasters. These include droughts and cyclones that have caused untold suffering to the populace. Let’s come in huge numbers to witness the play. Admission is only $3 for adults and just $1 for kids. For bookings, contact our team on 0774232478, 0782217462, or 0773284679. You can alternatively visit our offices in the Harare Gardens from 9 AM to 5 PM,” Mr. Guzha said.
He added that the play is innovative and thought-provoking while it delves into the urgent issue of climate change, offering a powerful and artistic account of its impact on the world.
“The production is a work in progress that will culminate into a greater theatre performance with input from different backgrounds, ending in Germany at Theatre Strahl. It features four talented cast members from IYASA and Theatre Strahl, including Natascha Manthe (Theatre Strahl), Nqobizitha Ncube (IYASA), Justus Verdenhalven (Theatre Strahl), and Dorcas Ngwenya (IYASA).
“This quartet brings to life a range of characters from diverse backgrounds, each with a unique perspective on the climate crisis. The collaboration brings together the talents of two co-artistic directors – Inkululeko Innocent Dube from Zimbabwe and Anna Vera Kelle from Germany – to create a truly global production that transcends borders and boundaries. Please don’t miss it, this coming Wednesday only at Theatre in the Park from 6 PM!!!” Mr. Guzha said,
