For more than 400 days the people in the Gaza Strip have been subjected to a war of extermination, displacement, and destruction of all human and human life habitats and Israel also continues to use starvation as a weapon in its war on the Gaza Strip by depriving civilians of their most basic human rights of water, food, treatment, electricity, and others, including children, women, the elderly and the sick. A large percentage of the more than two million people in the Gaza Strip suffer from severe malnutrition and live in unimaginable conditions.
Palestine’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr. Tamer Almassri, condemns in the strongest terms, the systematic Israeli persistence in killing Palestinian civilians, especially in the north of Gaza. Israel is seeking to empty Palestine of its inhabitants and divide the Gaza Strip into cantons to facilitate control and occupation.
The Ambassador said the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare is a war crime and the collective punishment of the Palestinian population is also a war crime.
“The State of Palestine stresses that the international community’s longstanding failure to enforce United Nations resolutions on the Palestinian cause, along with inaction to halt Israel’s campaign of genocide and destruction has emboldened Israel’s fascist leaders to intensify its systematic war crimes and grave violations aimed at dismantling the Palestinian cause and obliterating the prospects for a two-state solution.
“The state of Palestine urgently demands a resolute response from the United States and the global community, advocating for a decisive UN Security Council resolution to grant the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations, mandate an immediate end to Israel’s campaign of extermination, and establish binding mechanisms to enforce the General Assembly’s resolution and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice,” he said.
In addition, Dr Almassri underscores that imposing severe international sanctions on the occupying state, along with targeting its leaders, settlement advocates, and extremist factions, is essential to halt Israel’s relentless assault on Palestinian rights and secure a future grounded in justice and accountability.
