Jacob Ngarivhume, the leader of opposition party Transform Zimbabwe who is facing charges of inciting people to overthrow the government through constitutional means has been granted bail.
Ngarivhume has spent 45 days in prison as his previous bids on getting bail were unsuccessful.
Justice Tawanda Chitapi read the judgment today on behalf of Justice Siyabona Musithu.
“Accordingly, the appeal is allowed,” he said.
Justice Chitapi ordered Ngarivhume to deposit ZWL$50 000 at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, reside at his given Waterfalls home address, surrender his passport and not to use his Twitter handle that led to his arrest until the matter is finalised.
He was ordered to report thrice a week at Waterfalls Police station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
