Harare, Zimbabwe – Spartans Chess Club will host The Gates of Fire chess event on Saturday, June 15th at The Sterling Boutique Hotel in Hoggerty Hill.
The social chess gathering, themed on the infamous Battle of Thermopylae between the Spartans and the Persians, will feature a variety of chess activities including a single-player round-robin tournament, blindfold chess exhibitions, simultaneous games, and giant chess.
The Gates of Fire will run from 10 am to 5 pm, with registrations beginning at 9 am. Early bird tickets are going for US$10/Zig145 and US$20/Zig290 on the day. Tickets include snacks and there will also be food and beverages available. The event is open to chess gurus, enthusiasts, and families.
Spartans Chess Club co-founder, Larry Ndoro, expressed his excitement at the upcoming social chess extravaganza.
