Kadoma District hosts Mashonaland West Mashonaland Provincial Ball Games

Kadoma’s Sanyati East District plays host to the National Association of Primary Heads (Naph) Provincial ball games slated for the 13th of July to the 14th of July 2023 in Rimuka.

The Sanyati East District will host the tournament on the Rimuka grounds and also in various Schools on Thursday and Friday. The Mashonaland West District teams will hit the field to participate in National Association of PrimaryHeads (NAPH) ball games and from these competitions, they will build a Provincial team.

Speaking to this reporter, the Chairman of the National Association for Primary School Heads ( NAPH) Sanyati East District who are the hosts, Mr. Anthony Mapindani said they were almost through with the preparations and were extremely happy about hosting the Provincial games despite resource challenges.

He said that a lot of effort and resources were required and he hoped that the Kadoma community and all stakeholders will rally behind the teams and lead them to success.

“We are almost 90% through with our preparations and we are happy to host the province despite resource challenges. A lot of effort and resources are required and we hope the Kadoma community and all stakeholders will support us materially and financially and also rally behind our teams and lead them to success,” said the District Chair.

According to the secretary for Sanyati East District, Mr. Tigerenashe Madekere, he said they are expecting to host seventeen Districts teams from across the province, and as a District they are well prepared to host the teams and the games to be played will include soccer, netball, basketball, handball, tennis and Rugby.

According to the secretary, the games will be played in Rimuka grounds and in various Schools and Mupamombe Primary School will be the receiving point.

” We are happy to host this year’s Mash West Provincial ball games and we are expecting to host seventeen Districts teams from across the province,” said Madekere. ” We have various disciplines and they include soccer, netball, basketball, volleyball, Rugby and tennis and games will be played in various Schools and Mupamombe Primary School will be the receiving point.” added the secretary.

“The hosting of our Provincial ball games is nearer and great work has been put into place. Almost all disciplines are ready to host the games save for a few touch-ups needed in Basketball and Rugby and hopefully by Tuesday, all will be ready. Our vetting is going to be done at Mupamombe Primary,” said Mr Madekere.

The sporting discipline venues are as follows: Netball will be played at Mupamombe Primary, Girls’ Soccer will be hosted by Jameson, Tafadzwa, Rimuka 1schools whereas Boys’ Soccer will be played at Mupamombe, Rimuka grounds and Kuredza with Basketball at Jameson High and Church of Christ. Volleyball will be hosted by Chedonje Primary and Handball Girls will be played at Munhumutapa with Handball Boys at Rimuka 2 High and Rugby at Sports Club or Jameson High.

At the time of going to press, schools were busy preparing for the Competitions. Speaking to Mr Darlington Zikali whose school Chedonje Primary is going to host Volleyball games, he said they were humbled to host Volleyball and were busy preparing the grounds. By Tuesday, they will be through.

“We are busy marking the courts and our school is going to host Volleyball games. By Tuesday, we will be through and we are ready to host Volleyball games,” said Mr Zikali.

The main aim of the games, according to Mr. Mapindani, is to identify talent that will be used to come up with a Provincial team that will represent Mashonaland West in Provincial games set for the end of the month where a Zimbabwe team is selected to play against regional powerhouses such as South Africa, Namibia, and Lesotho.
