Bulawayo-based artist and youth advocate, Knowledge “Killer Nox” Shumba, recently hosted the Ziyajuluka Festival third edition which was meant to promote local culture, raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, and promote upcoming local artists.

The festival was running under the theme “Cultural Revival: Say no to drugs.” In his main message during the festival, Killer Nox encouraged young people to shun drug and substance abuse and to preserve and promote the Zimbabwean culture and heritage.

“I am happy that we have gathered today as young people and artists to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our community through music, dance, and art.

“This time, we are hosting our event under the theme”Cultural Revival” with the significance of this theme being that of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage which is essential for building a strong sense of identity and community,” he said.

The festival was an opportunity for young people to showcase their talent and creativity which will help them to identify their strengths in life. Ziyajuluka represents the spark of creativity and new beginnings that the festival aims to ignite in the community.

The platform brings young people together to celebrate their cultural heritage and inspire each other through art and performance. It aims to leave a lasting impact on the community, fostering a sense of unity and creativity that will continue to grow beyond the event itself.

One of the beneficiaries, Cathy, said the power of music brings people together, which aligned with the festival’s mission of promoting unity and cultural exchange. She said she gained new insights into the importance of community engagement and learning from experienced artists.

“The key takeaway message for me was the power of collaboration and creativity in driving a positive change. The festival inspired me to pursue my artistic projects and connect with like-minded individuals,” Cathy said.

Another upcoming artist, Juggernaught said the festival gave the chance to showcase raw Bulawayo talent and mingle with other artists, local DJs, and dancers.

The festival brought together Bulawayo-based artists including Yyung Creepy, Ace Zella, Wakanda Da Mc, International Movement, Mr. Handsome, Control Room, Sashakey Khumalo, and Acquillah K among others.
