HIGH-FLYING Afro-fusion musician Lovemore “Lovezh” Nerudzo has managed to cement his position in the showbiz industry if results from the weekly radio charts are anything to go by.
The Brave Stars Band maintained dominance on the National FM Top 20 charts with the hit song Elengina off the blockbuster album Mwari Mupenyu grabbing the second position on the radio competition with Beny Muzanamombe’s hit Vafudzi Vemakwayi on pole position, a feat which the Giant Wanyanya singer described as “reward for hard work and dedication and his loyal fans’ incredible support”.
Last Saturday was the second time Elengina scooped second place on the popular radio competition. Over the past few months, the track has made commendable progress drawing closer to the pole position.
“We recently released a new album called Giant Wanyanya which is also currently rocking the airwaves. We hope some tracks off that album especially I Want To Marry U, will steadily weave their way through into the Top 20 charts,” said Lovezh.
When asked to explain why Elengina continues to gain traction on the airwaves, the Vanodanana hitmaker said, “Elengina is one song my fans like the most. It has many fans already.”
He also revealed that he is already in the recording studio in preparation for a new project. “Despite the Covid-19 setback, 2020 has been a blessed year, my music is doing well on different radio stations. This means the message is getting to the people. My mission is to teach and entertain people through music and with such an amazing response, it shows that my fans and radio listeners, in general, appreciate the efforts,” he said.
He added that he was thankful for the people who voted his music to dominate the charts. “The votes mean a lot, it shows that people appreciate the work I’m doing. I’m happy that my music is making an impact judging by the feedback we get from the listeners,” said the Kusaziva Kufa hitmaker.
Lovezh is among a few select local artists who have mastered the art of grabbing attention to his work through catchy videos and his recent video for the chart-topping Elengina was no exception.
He recently set social media ablaze after his song I Want To Marry U ignited a dancing competition on Facebook. The dance competition ends on 18 September and the winner will walk away with US$50. Details of the contest are available on Lovezh and the Brave Stars’ Facebook page.
He said his music reflects the life in a society which people relate to. “The secret behind successful music brands is the message, most of which reflects or mirrors society hence most of my songs are inspired by our way of life as Zimbabweans,” he said.
The singer has so far worked with many established musicians among them Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele and Mark Ngwazi.
