While women are generally less visible in sporting activities compared to their male counterparts, the under 15 girls volleyball team of Manjokota Primary School in Manicaland Province have turned around the tables after they recently qualified for national volleyball competitions set to be held in Bulawayo on the 26th of this month.
The team coach Dennis Mudiwa expressed pleasure in such a milestone and promised to take the trophy home to Manicaland Province.
“As a coach, I was very happy about this because it was our first time to win at the provincial level.
“Our expectations are to raise the flag high,” said Mudiwa
He revealed that the training is at an advanced stage with participants already in the camp ahead of next week’s national competitions.
” As a team, we are in camp from 18 July and we are training very hard. We are even going to the nearest secondary school to have sessions with under 15 and 17 teams.
“Right now our players are now geared for the action come 26 July,” added Mudiwa.
Volleyball national competitions will commence on the 26th of July and end on the 28th of July 2022 in Bulawayo.
