Zvimba – A 65-year-old woman from Witchens Farm who had both her legs broken in a road accident four months ago has received a wheelchair donation from Ministry of Local Government Deputy Minister and Zvimba North legislator, Hon Marian Chombo.

Joice Nyahuni said she was overjoyed when Hon Chombo announced that she had come with a wheelchair for her during the Apostolic Faith Church Conference at Witchen Farm in Ward 17 of Zvimba North Constituency.

“I am grateful to Member of Parliament, Hon Marian Chombo for this gesture that is full of love as my family burden has been lessened by the donation of the wheelchair,” she said.

Nyahuni was traveling in a pirate taxi Honda Fit vehicle which collided head-on with a lorry near Banket in April 2022. The accident also claimed one life.

Hon Chombo urged motorists to exercise caution when carrying passengers and also urged the public to use certified public transport.

“We urge our motorists to take care on our roads and ensure we do not lose precious lives as well ending up with road accident-induced disabilities which affect families, communities and also stalls development as some will not be able to continue working as they used to do before such unfortunate incidents,” she said.

Hon Chombo urged the church to pray and preach the gospel of love and peace as well as to join the fight for drug and substance abuse through counseling young people.

Meanwhile, the Passenger Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) on Thursday last week reiterated the organisation’s commitment to strengthening passenger safety and convenience.

Commenting on the recent Chegutu accident that happened when the police threw spikes on a CAG bus, PAZ National Coordinator, Tafadzwa Goliati, thanked the Director of the Civil Protection Unit (CPU), Mr. Nathan Nkomo who reprimanded the use of road spikes by the police in its road policing duties.
