Masawara donates to Jairos Jiri Association

Masawara, a pan-African investment company, has partnered with the Jairos Jiri Association and donated $30 000 for its daily operations as well as a tonne of fertiliser as part of farming inputs.

The company has interests in diverse industries, including financial services, technology, property, agro-chemicals and hospitality.

Driven by a passion to make lives better, the company saw it fit to partner Jairos Jiri, an association founded in 1950 which benefits more than 7 000 people a year through various programmes.

Ms Lydia Tanyanyiwa, managing director of Minerva Risk Advisors, presented the donation on behalf of Masawara during the association’s 87th National Council Meeting held in Kadoma.

One of the major challenges the association faces is the financial resources needed for expansion of projects, maintenance of infrastructure, paying utility bills and purchasing drugs.

The association’s centres are also in need of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and physiotherapy equipment.

Speaking during the handover, Ms Tanyanyiwa said Masawara was honoured to partner with Jairos Jiri and hoped the token would help it fund some of the challenges the association was currently facing.

“Over and above our mandate for wealth creation, is an overriding purpose to ‘make lives better’ and it is fulfilling to be able to partner with Jairos Jiri.

“I have known the association since I was young, and I do appreciate the tremendous work being done and that has been done over the years. With this humble donation, we hope the association can get some of the much-needed projects going,” she said.

This is not the first time Masawara has partnered with institutions to make lives better. Earlier this year the group donated food, blankets, buckets and detergents to 500 families affected by Cyclone Idai.

“At the heart of Masawara is making a positive contribution to Sub-Saharan Africa by creating financially strong companies and leaving an impact on the communities we operate in,” she said.

Masawara is an investment company and the majority shareholder in Cresta Hotels, Minerva Risk Advisors, Zimnat, Dandemutande, Sable Chemicals and Joina City.
