People in the Matebeleland and Midlands provinces have endorsed the Freedom of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) Party to take over the levers of running the country and steer it to sustainable development.
The endorsement follows a visit to these provinces by the FORUS Party leadership who had several interface meetings with the grassroots wherein they explained the party’s ideology and economic recovery plan for the country.
Jason Ncube from Cross Dete in Matebeleland said the FORUS Party was the first of its kind to set up village development structures at a time when the elections campaign period is not yet opened.
“Since independence in 1980, we have seen several politicians who come to promise the electorate ‘heaven on earth’ only when a greenlight to conduct primary elections is given by the leadership of various political parties. We are in 2021, two years away from the 2023 harmonised elections but the leadership of a new kid on the block, FORUS Party is already among us here in the rural areas.
“They are not only here to introduce their newly-formed political party but have already introduced tangible development projects relevant for rural areas. FORUS Party has not just promised these projects but immediately injected the initial capital to get these projects going. For that gesture, as Matebeleland province, we are saying to FORUS Party, finish up setting up structures nationwide and we will definitely give you the mandate to rule Zimbabwe come 2023 elections,” Ncube said.
The FORUS Party leadership is empowering rural communities through piggery, rabbit breeding, and beekeeping among other rural projects.
In Chiundura, Midlands Province, FORUS Party introduced roadrunner chickens and floor polish making (Cobra) projects in order to enable locals realise income to enhance their livelihoods.
Rebecca Moyo, a resident of Chiundura, a village just outside Gweru City, was ecstatic when Manyara Irene Muyenziwa, the President of FORUS Party, pledged US$500 to enable her to revive her soap-making project.
“I had run out of money to purchase caustic soda, a key ingredient in my soap-making project but I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Madam Manyara Irene Muyenziwa, the President of FORUS Party for extending a whopping US$500 initial capital for me to kick-start the soap-making business.
“That did not end there. Madam President Muyenziwa also donated some funds for purchasing beehives to the local environmental group to enable it to start beekeeping. As a party that is new, I can safely say, FORUS party is our saviour from poverty to economic emancipation,” Moyo said.
The FORUS Party visited Bulawayo, Gweru, Gwanda, Chiundura, Silobela, Gokwe, Nkayi, Dete, Plumtree, Kadoma, and Kwekwe as part of its Matebeleland and Midlands provincial tour last week.
