Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2018 winners received their prizes at a colourful event held in the capital today. The occasion was graced by sponsors, contestants’ family members and the media fraternity.
The event saw Miss Tourism Zimbabwe queen, Tafadzwa Primrose Jaricha, drive away in Mercedes Benz C200 sponsored by Durban based businesswoman Dr Mercy Mafara. First Princess, Natalie Mangondo and second Princess, Life Matunzeni and Miss Personality Chido Nyika walked away five thousand dollars richer courtesy of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. The four will also be attached at the Authority for the duration of their reign. Miss Talent, Maita Kudzaishe Kainga, bagged two thousand five hundred dollars.
Jaricha, in her emotionally charged acceptance speech paid tribute to the Almighty and her family for making her realize her dream. “Growing up in the dusty suburb of Chinganga in Mutare, I never imagined I will have this honour of representing my country”, she said.
“Being crowned Miss Manicaland only was enough for me. To emerge the overall winner out of a bevy of beauties like these was a dream come true”, she added.
Jaricha will however have to wait a little bit longer to participate at the prestigious Miss Universe. This was announced by Miss Tourism Zimbabwe licence holder Mrs Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda who said she wish to expose Jaricha first before she could face the world so as to enhance her chances of winning. She said she took this decision after considering feedback from previous winners.
Every other contestant walked away with one thousand dollars courtesy of Prophet Walter Magaya who also provided the boot camp venue.
