South African-based Afro-jazz artiste Precious Hanya affectionately known as  Mr. P is working on his third offering titled ‘Mixed Bag’ which is promising to be a banger.

This publication caught up with the lanky businessman-cum-musician who said he has courted a number of popular musicians including Andy Muridzo, Hwindi President, and Dino Mudondo in the 12-track musical project.

“The album has 12 songs and I am presenting it as an early Christmas present to music lovers out there.

“There is a party song Purezha which features  Andy Muridzo and ‘Baba naMai’ which I sought the voice of Zimdancehall artiste Hwindi President. The song is a tribute by children to the strife and turmoil their parents go through as they raise them up.

“Dino Mudondo comes in ‘Nyaya Dzerudo’,” revealed Mr. P.

The song ‘Soft Life’ talks about the challenges being faced by young people which include unemployment and ‘Dera’ encourages parents to discipline their feelings.

Another gem to look forward to is ‘Kare Kare’ which reminisces the good yesteryears where people used to work collectively and assist each other in times of need.

In ‘Kangoma’ Mr. P pours his heart out on how musicians are often not appreciated when alive but remembered glowingly when they meet their demise.

For suitors, ‘Go Tell Your Mama’ should be an anthem as it speaks of a young man proposing to pay lobola for her newfound love.

The album was recorded and produced by Lyk D at Underground Studios in Johannesburg.

He also worked with seasoned session musicians including Gonyeti (ex-Jah Prayzah vocalist),Obert Gomba (ex-Macheso drummer), and Nicholas Musonza on guitars.

‘Mixed Bag’ is the third album after  ‘The Beginning’ and ‘The Return.’
