In a groundbreaking move, a young entrepreneur from Kadoma has found a lasting solution to the City’s perennial water problems through an innovative borehole drilling project dubbed “Mvura Kuvanhu” (Water for the People). This visionary initiative has brought hope to the residents of Kadoma, who have long suffered from water scarcity.

The brainchild of Godwin Gwara, a local businessman with a passion for community development, the “Mvura Kuvanhu” project aims to provide clean and accessible water to the people of Kadoma. With the support of the Community, the project has already begun to bear fruit, with several boreholes drilled and functional.

The project is a shining example of community-driven development. While Godwin’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in driving the project forward, it is the community’s collective effort that has made the drilling of boreholes possible. By pooling their resources and contributing to the project, community members have demonstrated their commitment to improving access to clean water and transforming their community for the better.

For years, Kadoma residents have struggled with water shortages, relying on erratic municipal supplies and expensive alternatives. The “Mvura Kuvanhu” project has changed this narrative, providing a reliable and sustainable source of clean water. This has not only improved the health and well-being of residents but also boosted economic activity, as businesses and industries can now operate with confidence.

What sets the “Mvura Kuvanhu” project apart is its community-led approach. Gwara works closely with the community and the residents contribute their resources. Gwara will make sure he designs a tailored solution. This collaborative approach has ensured that the project is owned and driven by the community, guaranteeing its sustainability and success.

Through KIM G Drilling, the “Mvura Kuvanhu” project has so far served more than thirty communities around Kadoma with the bulk beneficiaries in Rimuka. It is a shining example of innovation and community-led development. As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with water challenges, this initiative offers a replicable model for addressing these issues. With the support of government, private sector, and civil society, similar projects can be rolled out across the country, bringing hope and relief to countless communities.

The project is a record of the power of innovation, community spirit, and collaborative effort. As Kadoma residents enjoy the benefits of clean and accessible water, this project stands as a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

The project has so far benefitted over 30 communities in Kadoma. The Project Coordinator, Godwin Gwara, said the program has benefited many Communities with areas such as Mufakose, Chisangano Infill, Madhombi/Chirimanyemba, Ajida, Makosa, Huni, Chapita streets in Rimuka and Waverly Communities.

Some of the beneficiaries of the project said they were so grateful for the Mvura Kuvanhu project as they used to wake up early in the morning to fetch water, but now they have clean water right in their community.

“The Mvura Kuvanhu project has brought so much joy to our community as our children no longer have to miss school to fetch water and we are seeing a big improvement in their health,” said Simbarashe Muwungani of Madhombi/Chirimanyemba Community.

“The project has given us hope. We were struggling to access clean water, but now we have a reliable source. It’s amazing to see how this project has brought our community together.” said Ellen Goniwa of Waverly Community.

In an area where access to clean water has long been a challenge, the Mvura Kuvanhu project is a breath of fresh air. By drilling boreholes and providing clean water, this project is changing the lives of thousands of people. As the project continues to expand, it is clear that the impact will be felt far and wide, and that the project will remain a shining example of community-led development.

It is a powerful reminder that even in the face of adversity, communities can come together to create positive change. By providing clean water to those who need it most, this project is transforming lives, improving health, and empowering people to reach their full potential.
