Season five of the ever-popular Big Brother Naija reality show launches on DStv this weekend, likely to get a big welcome from Zimbabwean viewers keen on 24/7 intrigue from this year’s housemates.
According to Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, this year’s show will feature a BBN house packed with 21housemates who are strangers to each other and each of whom will be fighting for the big cash prize.
“Big Brother has been a popular phenomenon since 2001 and it has grown in popularity from year to year as BB South Africa, BB Africa and now as BB Naija,” she said.
The grand prize which includes a N30m cash prize, makes this season’s winnings the biggest since its debut back in 2006 and highest prize for reality TV show on the continent!
The breakdown of the grand prize for BBNaija season five includes: a two-bedroom apartment courtesy Revolution Plus; a top of the range SUV from Nigerian automaker, Innoson Motors; a trip to Dublin courtesy Guinness; home appliances courtesy Scanfrost; a trip to Dubai packaged by Travelbeta; a year’s supply of Indomie noodles, Munch it and Colgate toothpaste; a year’s supply of Pepsi, a branded chiller and a trip to watch the UEFA Champions League finale; and a brand new Oppo mobile smartphone
All the action can be found on the dedicated BBN home, DStv channel 198, available from Access bouquet upwards from Sunday July 19 at 6pm.
Ms Dziva said other reality shows were also running or coming soon to satisfy viewers’ appetites for this genre of entertainment.
Big Brother Naija’s 2019 winner Mercy and her boyfriend Ike – who met and started dating in the Big Brother house – share their relationship’s ups and downs with the world in Mercy & Ike, on Africa Magic Showcase, channel 151. A new show, After Wedding, follows everyday people as they work to keep their marriages alive while dealing with the chaos of day-to-day living, on Mondays at 2pm Africa Magic Family, channel 154.
“This is a world of entertainment, with reality shows made for Africans by Africans,” said Ms Dziva.
