Leading Mobile Network Operator in Zimbabwe, NetOne made a remarkable impression at the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show through its captivating technology displays showcasing the latest advancements in robotics, smart farming, and smart home solutions.
Drawing attention from attendees and industry experts alike, NetOne’s innovative exhibits not only wowed the audience but also shed light on the transformative potential of technology in agriculture.
NetOne Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, highlighted that his organisation’s presence at the week-long exhibition arena was not only to show face but to demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to sustainable development.
“Our presence here is not to traditionally fulfill attendance requirements. Our impactful presence at the event is aimed at showcasing and exploring the diverse range of technologies on display and the implications for the future of agriculture in Zimbabwe and beyond. We also have Smart Office and Smart Home Solutions that can revolutionize the way we interact with our home devices, riding on the Internet of Things (IoTs). As mind-blowing as it may seem, this is the new reality and we are here to usher Zimbabweans there’, concludes Mushanawani with a smile on his face.
“If you thought the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show was all about tractors and crop yields, think again!”, says NetOne Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Learnmore Musunda. “We have brought a futuristic twist to the event with jaw-dropping technology displays.”
He also indicated how the organisation has assisted and sponsored some primary school kids who are into robotics, a partnership that is a going concern.
“The future is here, and as an organisation we have and will always support innovation. These robotic models you see here were done and programmed by primary school students. We have a bias towards building a sustainable future for the next generation and the time is now, hence our partnership with different tech-hubs”, says Musunda.
Mr Tatenda Makumborenga, NetOne’s Acting Head Marketing and Public Relations, also echoed the same sentiments as his superiors. He also brought in the view strong view that technology is no longer a luxury but a basic need for the day-to-day running of our lives.
“In today’s fast-paced world, technology isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity. Our presence at the Agriculture Show underpins how integrating technology into agriculture can revolutionize the industry, making processes more efficient, sustainable, and ultimately more profitable. The issue in farming, since time immemorial, is about the yield, leakages, and the management of information. The technologies that we are offering address these issues from planting and harvesting to monitoring crop health.”
“Here we have Animal Tracking, a technology that can monitor the movement of our livestock adding an extra layer of security. Moreover, with the geo-fencing feature, you are also able to get alerts if your livestock wanders off into restricted areas.”
The reactions from show attendees were overwhelmingly positive. Many were amazed by the potential of integrating technology into farming practices, making tasks more efficient and sustainable. Some even described NetOne’s displays as eye-opening and inspiring, sparking conversations about the role of innovation in agriculture.
