NetOne has once again proven that despite being one of the leading champions in mobile telephony, they are undisputed friends of persons with albinism.
This was exemplified when NetOne joined like-minded organisations in commemorating the International Albinism Awareness Day held under the title “The Decade of Collective Progress” at Meikles Park in Mutare last week.
International Albinism Awareness Day is observed annually on the 13th of June.
“We are saying that on this day we celebrate the rights of persons with albinism worldwide. On this day, we celebrate again the successes of persons with albinism and proffer solutions to some of the challenges that they encounter in their day-to-day lives,” said Manicaland Provincial Disability Specialist, Mrs Agness Dube, who was the keynote speaker at the event.
The Zimbabwe Albinos Association, together with other development partners, commemorated the International Albinism Awareness Day in Mutare on 15 June 2024.
This year’s theme is a decade of collective progress. 2024 marks ten years since the launch of the commemorations in 2014.
The colourful event was characterized by music and dance.
Persons with albinism from Mutare and other parts of Manicaland Province also benefited from sunscreen lotions that were donated by NetOne and other partners that graced the occasion.
