Awarding women in the telecommunications industry in Zimbabwe promotes gender equality and fosters an inclusive industry culture by celebrating women’s achievements.
“I feel like a role model positioned to inspire young girls and women to pursue careers in telecommunications. This sector is traditionally perceived as a preserve for men and this award breaks stereotypes and challenges traditional gender roles and biases. It also inspires me and other women to work on professional growth and enhance career advancement opportunities for women,” Masvaure said upon receiving the prestigious award.
Her counterpart, Engineer Shamuyashe, said there is a need to encourage women to join the telecommunication sector and remain in the industry, thus reducing turnover.
By recognizing and celebrating women’s achievements in Zimbabwe’s telecommunications industry, COMFWB seeks to promote gender equality and diversity; empower women to pursue leadership roles; drive industry growth and innovation; and inspire future generations to join the sector.
