A partnership between retail giant OK Zimbabwe and the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) is set to benefit senior citizens.

The partnership is based on a popular quote by Laura L. Carstensen, Professor of Psychology and the founding director of the Standard Centre on Longevity which goes thus: “The challenge today is to build a world that is just as responsive to the needs of very old people as to the very young.”

Riding on this concept, the two organisations contend that bodies may be weaker than they used to be, but they have an immense ocean of experience and wisdom that can serve as a beacon for the younger generation.

There is no doubt that the older generation of the population is a valuable part of our society.

“Hence as OK Zimbabwe Limited, a heritage Zimbabwean brand, forged on the hard work, commitment, and dedication of the elderly, has partnered the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) in designing a unique gift for senior citizens in our society.

“We take this as an opportunity to recognise and celebrate their accomplishments and bravery: many parents and grandparents built the society we know today brick by brick, survived wars, droughts, pandemics, and persevered in difficult circumstances whilst raising families. This is our way of acknowledging and honouring their sacrifice and commitment,” a senior executive with OK Zimbabwe told Spiked Online Media.

The features of the partnership between Ok Zimbabwe Limited and NSSA are below:

  • Ok Zimbabwe shall sell discounted groceries and medicines to qualifying NSSA pensioners from the 13th to the 18th of January 2022 and every month thereafter.
