The country’s leading cooking oil producers, Pure Oils through their ZimGold brand today continues to assist vulnerable communities under the company’s ZimGold Givers Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, by donating cooking oil worth ZW$75000.00 to Touching Lives Africa.
Under the ZimGold Givers, Pure Oils identifies community heroes who are doing remarkable work to uplift their communities.
Pure Oils Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Lesley Gibbons said, “We assist these heroes to reach their objectives by supplying them with the resource. The community’s heroes will distribute the products to the less privileged in the communities they serve. Our first donation was to Lynde Francis Trust who serve vulnerable families in Chitungwiza, but we are targeting to assist five such organisations and heroes in the next few months,” she said.
Under the ZimGold Givers, ZimGold has committed to giving cooking oil to disadvantaged families during October and November.
“Apart from offering groceries, the company is also stretching a helping hand to the education sector by offering scholarships in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The STEM scholarships saw beneficiaries Lovejoy Gushungo and Sosten Magweva getting a lifetime opportunity to pursue master’s studies at the Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT) in India. The two are currently in India, studying Mechanical Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering, respectively. This year again, pure oils will award scholarships to beneficiaries who will be announced soon”, said Gibbons.
“This year, Pure Oils gave cooking oil, soaps, and blankets to all the frontline workers who were working during the Covid -19 induced lockdown. The donated goods were handed over to His Excellency, President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa at a ceremony held at the State House.
Last year, Zimgold Givers assisted survivors of Cyclone Idai in Chimanimani,” added Gibbons.
Speaking on the same occasion Touching Lives Africa Country Director Hope Mudangwe said, “We are very grateful for this gesture from Pure Oils and this donation will go a long way in uplifting the lives of the needy especially during this difficult period. We have identified eight organizations in the communities and we’re going to help them in collaboration with other well-wishers”, she said.
