The usually peaceful and quiet Musiiwa Business Centre and its environs, about 50km from Harare along the main Harare-Shamva road, were shaken to the core in the early hours of Friday when robbers pounced on one of the leading retail outlets – Chakanyuka Supermarket and got away with goods worth over US$2500.

According to one of the employees who were part of the immediate reaction team, the robbers attacked the supermarket at around 2 am. The culprits who were driving a silver Toyota baby quantum and a black Honda Fit gained entry by breaking the main front door, using bolt cutters and iron bars.

The investigation by this publication has revealed that the suspected gang is comprised of 5 males.

It is believed that prior to the Chakanyuka supermarket incident, the said robbers had robbed Exor Service Station in Shamva and they (robbers) fired gunshots in the process. They proceeded to Gain Wholesale where alert security details averted the robbers’ endeavours, as he fired warning shots at them.

Spiked Online Media failed to get an official comment from the police after efforts to get in touch with Mashonaland Central Police Spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe were fruitless as his phone went unanswered.
