After too long, international cricket is back on the SuperSport calendar with a short, sharp tour by England in South Africa to remind us what we’ve been missing.
On Friday, the first of three T20 internationals will be played, with South Africa hosting the tourists in Cape Town. The broadcast will start at 17:30 on the SuperSport Cricket and SS Grandstand channels.
With the bio-bubble having put the clamp on crowds attending, SuperSport will ensure that stay-at-home fans can still cheer. The World of Champions will have a world-class commentary team in attendance with former England captains Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain joined by Ian Ward and Mark Nicholas, plus the South African quartet of Pommie Mbangwa, JP Duminy, Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini (ODI only).
The T20 caravan moves quickly, with the second international on Sunday at Boland Park (14:00 CAT), followed by the third at Newlands on Tuesday (17:30 CAT).
Each match will enjoy a 30-minute build-up which will include the toss, player interviews, flashbacks between the two teams and assorted cricket topics.
The one-day internationals will follow the T20 series with outings on December 4, 6 and 9, all in the Western Cape.
Every ball of every match against the World Cup champions will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
The cricket summer will then roll on up-country with the first Test against Sri Lanka set for SuperSport Park on Boxing Day, followed by the second, at the Wanderers, the following week.
South Africa’s commentary team will be supplemented by Vernon Philander for the Tests.
With 29 cameras on hand (including five super-slomos and two ultra-cameras), broadcasts will be cutting-edge.
