Shamva District held its 2022 National Association of Primary-School Heads (NAPH) ball games at Wadzanayi primary school in Shamva on the 8th of July. It was a battle of three zones that form the district.
The competitions saw Shamva South, West, and Central battling it out in volleyball, soccer, and netball among other disciplines. It was Shamva Central volleyball team that progressed to the next stage of the tournament after winning all its games convincingly. The team, which was beaming with talent, thumped Shamva West with a margin of 2-0 in their opening match. They went on to overcome Shamva South 2-1 in a tightly contested affair.
Coached by the slim, towering, ever-smiling tactician Ronnie Chisamba from Chemhondoro primary school, the team exhibited great skills and cohesion. In an interview with this publication, the tactful mentor said, “It all takes some dedication and hard work for a team to succeed at this level. We have been busy the whole week on the internet trying to acquire the latest skills and current trends in the game.”
The team which is mainly composed of players from Chemhondoro Primary School will represent Shamva District at the Provincial level on the 15th of July in Mvurwi.
“As we approach the provincial finals the competition is going to be tougher but we hope to conquer the province and reach the national level”, commented the charismatic gaffer.
Chisamba is not new to provincial competitions. He has been there twice before when he was still in Mashonaland East before his switch to Mash Central.
It’s going to be fireworks in Mvurwi as the best of the best in the province will be taking each other head-on. Sports analysts from the province have predicted a tough provincial final this year based on the zeal exhibited by trainers in all district competitions held across the province.
