Drug misuse has become rampant in different communities and it is destroying the lives of many promising youths who have fallen victim to different types of illicit drugs such as ‘musombodhiya, ‘mutoriro’, ‘crystal merth’, ‘gukamakafela’, and ‘jolly juice’ which is affecting young children in primary schools.

In an interview, the founder of Shifting Your Mindset, Mutsa Makaka – said it breaks her heart to see many lives of promising youths being destroyed by drugs, hence her dedication and commitment to fight to end drug addiction.

“It is heart-breaking to see how the lives of many promising youths are being destroyed by drugs. The youth are our future leaders so we cannot sit and watch whilst their lives are being destroyed. We have to work together as a nation to fight this disease called drugs and put an end to it.

“As an organization, we love to see communities progress, people grow, and we have hope to see a great nation,” she said.

Shifting Your Mindset is working with their local partner, Zimbabwe Community Health Intervention Research (ZiCHIRe) are currently conducting drug awareness campaigns in different communities such as Mabvuku, Tafara, Mbare, Hopley, Southlea Park, Epworth, and many more where they are sensitizing the young and old about the effects of drug addiction.

“We have to take action and end drug abuse. As an organization we are working tirelessly delivering campaigns and educating different communities educating the youths to desist from drug abuse and encouraging them to focus on mending their lives for the better,” she said.

Mutsa says they are working on delivering big empowerment programs for the youths so that they can rebuild themselves u and use their capacity and capabilities to bounce back and have a brighter future.

“We are driven by love and envision a world of hope, where all young people are empowered to develop to their fullest potential and follow their dreams across the world.

“All I would like to say is a small group of people came together and are making a difference. If we come together as a nation we can be a force of positive change. We are putting a plea to say let’s all come together in love and rebuild the future. Love leads and love wins.”
