Harare – Zimbabwean vehicle and machinery giant Tsapo Group of Companies has unveiled a newly branded high-quality showroom for top Indian vehicle brand, Ashok Leyland, along Airport Road, in Hatfield.
This comes after Ashok Leyland, a flagship company of the Hinduja Group, the top commercial vehicles manufacturer in India, signed a new distribution agreement with Tsapo Group to enter the Zimbabwean market.
The new showroom was unveiled by the Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Vijaj Khanduja in the presence of Ashok Leyland Head of Africa Operations Sachin Dasharath, Mr. Balachandran R, the Indian vehicle giant’s Regional Manager and Tsapo Group of Companies Chief Executive Officer Dr Patrick Masocha.
Speaking at the launch event Darashath said the new dealership will reinforce Ashok Leyland’s presence in Southern Africa.
“This new dealership in Harare will bolster our presence in this geography,” he said. “The robustness of the product and our channel partners has been one of the main factors in the phenomenal success of Ashok Leyland products in Africa”.
Darashath said Ashok Leyland’s presence in the country will contribute to the growth and development of Zimbabwe’s transportation sector.
“The introduction of Ashok Leyland vehicles ushers an era of enhanced efficiency, reliability and ground-breaking innovation within our transportation sector,” he said.
“The company is renowned for its commitment to excellence, cutting-edge technology, and a rich legacy of delivering quality vehicles that are set to elevate the standards of our public and commercial transportation systems.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to Ashok Leyland and firmly believe that this collaboration will significantly contribute to the growth and development of Zimbabwe’s transportation sector.

Ashok Leyland already leads in borehole drilling vehicles and machinery in the country.
The collaboration with Tsapo Group will increase the availability of its vehicle range in the local markets.
Dr Masocha said their partnership is highly beneficial to local markets.
“Ashok Leyland trucks and buses offer the best in class mileage along with future-ready portfolio in respective commercial vehicle categories ranging from 2.55 Ton GVW to 55 Ton GVW and buses suited for all applications in Zimbabwe,” he said.
“This partnership with Ashok Leyland will enable customers to benefit from Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles at industry best terms and conditions.”
Tsapo Group intends to expand its network to provide customers with uninterrupted service across the country.
