Musicians and performing artists the world over are creatives and when they sing, dance or paint a picture they want to convey a message and there is a lot to learn from their creations.
And one such artist who took is time to unpack the messages in his insignia and logo is Manluckerz Chikutu Makandire.
The Swedish-based Zimbabwean performing artist and author used this Christmas to unpack his logo which is pregnant with culture and heritage of Zimbabwe.
In a Christmas message posted on his official Facebook page, Manluckerz wrote: “Have you ever wondered what the ManLuckerz’s Makandire Muzani ZIMFEBI Music logo means? Here is the explanation. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Love you”
“Gold line: symbolizes minerals which are a primary resource in Zimbabwe. It depicts Manluckerz roots, kingship, a mineral that supplies energy, faith, hope for the future culture in the world.
“White background: symbolizes a creativity space that makes it possible to create music, it depicts purity of the band’s inner truth, hope and comfort.
“Egg shape: symbolizes hope, an anticipated new life, growth and success
“Red colour awareness energy, strength, power, determination, passion, desire and love. The power in the blood, the blood that ties Manluckerz to his past and culture.
“Makandire Muzani ZIMFEB Music is created with the following instruments such as mbira, guitars, a drum set, congas/ngoma, rattles and percussions
Our culture will never disappear as long as there are people to protect it. Together As One Pachedu One Love Always!
His first published book on culture titled FlashBack Identity is available as E-books and hard copies in several bookshops in Sweden.
FlashBack Identity describes how music and dance are used and have defined the Zimbabwean society through the ages.
The book has come about to strengthen not only the upcoming generation in Zimbabwe, but also in Sweden and the world at large as it introduces Zimbabwean cultural dances through an autobiography of a man who devoted himself to promoting cultural diversity through music and dance.
By taking the reader through his humble beginnings in Zimbabwe, his penetration into the Swedish music industry, his growth in cultural experience and his career hardships and breakthroughs, ManLuckerz wants to build bridges between diverse cultures through his work.
The author has profound respect for and honors the enriching culture and the heritage that shaped him to be who he is.
The book is inspired by the realization that the upcoming generation must learn about different cultures in order to appreciate the richness of diversity so that they fully understand themselves and others.
The author, wishes that the book will be of use to schools and beyond as it gives young people an appreciation of different cultures and the value of preserving cultural heritage.
