The VaChirenda Centre of Hope Foundation has again done another community responsibility in Seke and Beatrice through training women and girls in various skills to make them economically self-reliant.
Recently, the VaChirenda Centre of Hope Foundation has conducted a four-day training workshop in Seke and Beatrice targeting underprivileged women and girls. The girls and young women were trained to manufacture different products for sale so that they can earn a decent living. The founder and director of the foundation who spoke to this reporter said she was touched by the plight of most rural women.
”A majority of women in Zimbabwe need assistance especially single mothers and some widows. They should be empowered so that they get a decent living. I thank our Chief – Mambo Seke who allocated us some land in March. This is where we are going to build a big centre for women and girls that will offer training on manufacturing of different products for sale with a view to empowering them economically,” said Xoey Chirenda Chimombe.
The training workshop, made possible courtesy of support from Nyaradzo Funeral Services, was held at Chief Seke homestead on Monday and Tuesday and at Beatrice centre on Wednesday and Thursday. Women who spoke to this publication expressed gratitude to the VaChirenda Centre of Hope Foundation for spearheading this great initiative. In December 2020, the VaChirenda Centre of Hope Foundation donated Christmas presents to the aged and vulnerable members of the Seke community.
One of the participants who identified herself as Stella from the Seke community praised the Va Chirenda Centre of Hope Foundation for the help that they have been given.
‘”I thank our sister Xoey Chirenda for the good heart that she has shown to our community. My husband deserted me. He wasn’t even taking care of the family. I will be able to look after myself and my children because I’ve been trained to do self-sustainability projects by this foundation,” said Stella
Xoey Chirenda Chimombe is a third daughter of the late hero, Lieutenant Colonel Harold Chirenda who was a liberation warfighter against the colonial and racists Ian Smith regime. Leliutanant Colonel Chirenda’s name is pitched on the minds of many for his contribution to the independence of Zimbabwe.
