The five-day national voter’s roll inspection commenced today with a possibility of a one-day extension in places where the exercise has been delayed to take off.
In an official statement released by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC), the body’s chief elections officer Utloile Siliagwana said that some voters’ roll inspection centres were expected to open much later than expected due to logistical and unforeseen challenges.
“Owing to logistical and unforeseen challenges, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission would like to inform members of the public that some voters roll inspection centres may start operating much later than the anticipated time on 27 May 2023.
“The commission may consider extending this exercise scheduled to end on 31 May 2023 by a day in affected areas, “said Silaigwana
The exercise comes as a preparatory measure as the country gears for the 2023 harmonised elections which come after every five years.
