Ngwenya is among three local artists selected to perform at this event and her performance will be the second and penultimate since the program started in October and she will be performing on Friday the 20th of November 2020 from 6:30 PM down to 8 PM.
The show will be streaming live on Theatre in the Park Facebook page and will also be available on the institution’s YouTube channel. Due to Covid-19, there will be few tickets on sale. The artist says she is excited and feels honored for her selection.
“For me, this is just amazing and I feel very excited and honored to have been considered in this program” Ngwenya commented.
Theatre in the Park producer Daves Guzha, says that this has come as a relief for the music industry in the country which has been affected by the prevalence of the global Covid-19. He also explained that the program goes beyond the capital city to accommodate other artists.
“We are pretty excited and for us it’s a great opportunity to be running this event for our artists.
This event is not only for artists in Harare but for the rest of the country, that is why we have invited artists from other cities like Bulawayo. We are happy to welcome Vuyo to participate in our carefully curated program” Guzha said.
The Harare based arts hub is part of the African institutions partnering with Music in Africa Foundation in the implementation of this digital showcase for musical artists in Africa.
This program is designed to add steam to the global musical careers and respond positively to the effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic on musicians. According to Rooftop Promotions’ communications officer Passmore Ndlovu, the program will be coming to an end in December with Mbeu and The Mhodzi Tribe closing down the act.
