Women hail appointment of Justice Kekere-Ekun as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria

The Women Community In Africa (WCA) heartily congratulated His Lordship, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere- Ekun on her swearing-in as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), the second woman to hold this office in that country.
Global President of WCA, Dr. Adetoun Dally in a statement said, “Agreeably, women are making their impact felt in all spheres of human endeavours and more so when the tenets of fair play are at work. This is not in competition with men, but there is a dire need to bring the female perspective on board to ensure a balanced and more robust outlook.
“Women, be encouraged as we see our trailblazers shining the path to making a resounding impact in our Society. Hearty Congratulations once again to the Chief Justice of our Nation from all of us at Women Community in Africa.”
Hon. Justice Kekere-Ekun was sworn in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Villa after her nomination and recommendation by the National Judicial Council. This follows the retirement of Hon. Justice Olukayode  Ariwoola at the age of 70.
Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun is to serve in an acting capacity pending the confirmation of her appointment by the Nigerian Senate.
The Global President of WCA, Dr. Adetoun while saluting the career progression of the number one jurist, called on the new acting CJN to uphold the tenets of separation of powers, overhaul the image of the judiciary, and uphold the rule of law.
