Mafa Kwanisai Mafa, the National Chairman of the Zimbabwe Palestine Solidarity Council has said his organisation stands with the Palestinian people and defends their right to resist apartheid and oppression. In doing this, Mafa urged Israel to work for peace and respect the two-nation solution in ending the conflict.

He said Israel has spent the past 75 years committing apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people so this show of resistance is not an “unprovoked act”.

The Zimbabwe Palestine Solidarity Council said the attack on Israel was an act of resistance against the occupying force.

“If Israel sees the “provocation” in almost 8 decades of colonialism, occupation, apartheid, and genocidal practices, then Israel is part of the provocation,” he said.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 413 Palestinians, 78 children, and 41 women were murdered and thousands injured by Israeli forces and warplanes during the ongoing Israel pogroms in the Gaza Strip.

More than 150,000 Palestinians have been killed and injured by Israel since 2008, 33 000 of those were innocent children. But no one talks about it, no one calls them terrorists.

The organisation condemned Israel for the escalation of violence and called upon it to stop the illegal occupation of Palestine’s land, continued expansion of settlements, and desecration of the religious sanctity of the Al Aqsa mosque and Christian holy sites.

“What is happening in occupied Palestine is a response to weeks, months, and years of daily military invasions into Palestine. Palestinians have every right to defend and fight for their colonised land by any means necessary. We register our detestation in the strongest terms, the USA’s unwavering support for the apartheid state by providing US$8 billion to Israel to act against the Palestinians with impunity.

“Israel has violated 28 resolutions of the United Nations Security Council with impunity which includes the UN Charter, Article 25 (1945), a few sample resolutions are, 54,11, 233, 234, 236, 248, 250, 252, 256, 262, 267, 270, 280, 285, 298, 313, 316, 468, 476.No action has been taken against Israel. The US stubbornly abstains from all votes against Israel or votes in support. Despite these atrocities, the so-called civilised West continues to trade with this terrorist state of Israel and continues to fund it,” Mafa said.

He noted that Zionists have been allowed to attack, arrest, and kill Palestinian people with no international response. The Zionist settlers have been allowed to occupy the Palestinian land without a response from the international community. In 1972, the United Nations declared “Zionism is Racism”.

“Zionism is on trial like apartheid in South Africa. It must be condemned and dismantled now. We reaffirm the inalienable right of the oppressed people of Palestine to defend themselves, their territory, and their sovereignty. Accordingly, we call upon all progressive nations to provide full spectrum support to the Palestinian people. We also call for the complete ban of Israel from attaining observer status in the African Union. Africa continues to grapple with the ripple effects of colonialism and in principle and practice must not commune with a nation that continues to engage in such primitive, inhuman, and barbaric acts.

“We stand firmly in solidarity beside the people of Palestine and reiterate that peace can and will only be achieved when Israel stops occupying Palestinian territories and withdraws all forms of aggression. Zimbabwe Palestine Solidarity Council stands with Palestine. From the River to the Sea, Palestine Shall Be Free In Our Lifetime.”
