SuperSport launches new channel line-up to give your favourite sport a dedicated home of its own

SuperSport is to introduce thematic channels in September, making sport viewing an easier experience for DStv viewers.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicity and public relations manager Liz Dziva said SuperSport would drop the numbering system it has always used for its channels, replacing them with a themed set focused around individual sports.

“The change will happen on Tuesday September 1, when the introduction of the dedicated channels for leagues and sports will take effect, among them channels for the English Premier League, La Liga, WWE, UFC, tennis, motorsport, golf and several others,” she said.

A new addition to the channel line-up for DStv Premium customers will be the launch of SuperSport Grandstand, to be placed immediately after Blitz at the front of the SuperSport line-up. Grandstand will be hosted in studio on weekends and will guide viewers to the wide selection of sport on the World of Champions, cutting between live events and simultaneously directing viewers to the channel on which the best sporting action is available.

“There will now be up to 19 SuperSport channels, including a variety channel offering, as well as the newly-added ESPN and ESPN 2 channels,” said Ms Dziva.

“It’s a major development and one that adds value to the sport offering on DStv, making selection of viewing choices easier and quicker.”

“The changes will also mean that additional SuperSport channels of local and international sporting content will be added to the DStv platform.”

SuperSport broadcasts more live sport than any other broadcaster internationally and market research has shown that viewers fans would prefer dedicated, named channels for ease of access.

  The new channels will be:
