The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has taken note of the recent accident that took place on 30 May 2022 along Boshoff Road involving its electricity infrastructure and a huge truck that was carrying and delivering bricks to Waneka Flats.

The power utility reported that the case was reported to Mbare Police Station Traffic Section RRB number 5133003 and the matter is now in the hands of the law enforcement agents.

Recent, there was an accident on the same spot on 21 May 2022 which led to the destruction of the ZETDC electricity transmission tower and the utility had to quickly isolate and clear the area to ensure public safety.

“Our Engineers developed a temporary arrangement to support the remaining towers whilst an urgent permanent replacement of the destroyed tower was being made.

“Meanwhile, we urge the public to exercise caution when approaching Boshoff road whilst our Engineers are isolating and clearing the area. Police have also intensified investigations and a local company contracting this vehicle has been contacted. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted,” the power utility said in a notice it published today.
