Africa Bet donates 300 Tracksuits to ZRP

By Tatenda Mujeyi

Africa Bet donated 300 track suits yesterday to the Zimbabwe Republic Police ahead of the Southern Africa Regional Competition scheduled for Angola later on this year at the Morris Depot in Harare.

The donation was realised as a focal point in ascertaining the role sport has played  not only for health and wellness related issues but as a source of income.

“As you may be aware, ladies and gentleman, sport apart from being an essential ingredient for physical fitness, is also an important cog for a healthy mindset. More so, participating in sports promotes social interaction, encourages competition, and more importantly, it is a reliable source of income,” Deputy Commissioner-General in charge of Crime, Mr Mutamba said in a speech he read on behalf of Commissioner General Godwin Matanga.

The donation was viewed as a worthy gesture considering the hard economic times most corporates are experiencing owing to the economic decline.

The donation was viewed as enhancing the policing process as sport was an integral part of the policing process.

“As an organisation you have deemed it necessary to proffer your support towards development of social interactions, which in effect, enhances our policing. It is through the corporate world’s support that the ZRP has continued to be outstanding in sporting activities,” Deputy General Mutamba said.

Africa Bet emphasised that the gesture was necessitated by the respect they have in the service delivery conveyed by the national police force.

“We thank the ZRP for facilitating us to be in a position to facilitate our operations as a business. We believe it is essential for the business community to reach out and support our national police force,” Africa Bet Group CEO, Mr Brian Makwavarara said at the handover ceremony.

The national police force emphasised that the donation comes at the most convenient time as they are preparing for the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) games scheduled for Angola in August.

“You have provided a jacket to that child shivering in the chilly winter morning. These gleaming faces before you are raring to go come August.,” ZRP Secretary General Sports, Chief Superintendent Chingozho said..

The handover was attended by highly ranked police officials, Hammer and Tounges and Africa Bet management, media as well as the police sporting teams.
