….pilots Virtual Office to contain COVID-19
BancABC Zimbabwe has announced a partnership with Clean City Africa to conduct wholesale decontamination and sanitisation exercise across all its facilities and branches nationwide following the temporary closure of its Head Office, Ignition Hub, and Victoria Falls branch as part of its COVID-19 prevention measures to curtail the spread of the virus.
The bank recently issued a statement advising its stakeholders that a client of the bank who had tested positive for the Corona Virus and later sadly passed away, had been to their Mount Pleasant Campus to attend a business meeting. Following the release of this statement, the bank has initiated several protocols to ensure the safety of its stakeholders.
The sanitisation process already underway marks a dramatic shift in corporate interventions to contain the spread of the deadly Corona Virus at the workplace.
The decontaminated exercise will cover the Bank’s 19 branches across the country. The Bank has also activated measures for staff to work remotely via a virtual office environment. Selected branches have temporarily been closed until further notice for the sanitisation exercise to be conducted effectively.
Speaking at the kick-off of the COVID-19 Sanitation exercise with Clean City, Dr. Lance Mambondiani stated that “Corona Virus is a global pandemic which can potentially affect anyone. We take the health of our staff and customers very seriously. In times like these, we appreciate the work of Clean City Africa in helping with the prevention of COVID-19 in Zimbabwe. When we were looking for a partner to aid us in our branch-wide sanitisation, there was only one company that came to mind after seeing the great work that Clean City had started in the Harare CBD through sanitisation of the city hot-spots”.
“The Bank is committed to creating a safe environment for all our stakeholders and has put together all necessary interventions and resilient protocols to enable business continuity through this crisis. None of these preventive measures will affect our ability to deliver service to our customers on an ongoing basis,” he added.
Clean City Africa was one of the first corporates to take action in the fight against COVID-19 by embarking on a sanitisation exercise in the Harare CBD. Their sister company EcoSure recently rolled out portable handwashing stations at Copa Cobana, Rezende Street Terminal, Harare Charge Office and Market Square. Plans for handwashing stations across the country are currently underway.
Speaking on the partnership with BancABC Zimbabwe, the CEO of Clean City Africa Mr. Lovemore Nyatsine stated “It is bittersweet to be partnering with BancABC under these circumstances. However, we applaud the efforts they are taking to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country. We implore more corporates to take up similar initiatives as together we can help drastically lower the curve relating to the spread of the virus.

In its statement, the bank encourages all its customers to follow the guidelines of Health Officials to practice good hygiene, engage in social distancing & make use of its digital platforms for their banking activities where necessary throughout this crisis.
