Burna Boy takes a swing at Buffalo Souljah

Nigerian chanter Burna Boy(23) who gave a sterling performance at Pabloz, the newly opened joint in Borrowdale left journalists stunned after he professed oblivion of who Buffalo Souljah was.

Buffalo Souljah is a multi-award winning South African based dancehall artist who has for years dominated the continent in his genre.

He is the reigning King of African Dancehall following a Chanel O Most Gifted Dancehall award he received last year.

Buffalo Souljah has performed at many acclaimed stages on the continent including this year’s Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA).

When asked at a press conference if his beef with the Buffalo Souljah was still on, Burna Boy said, “Who is that?” laced with a sarcastic laugh, then he emphasized, “seriously who is that?” something that suggested the beef was still on.

Burna Boy, an award winning artist is one of the musicians who has been pushing the African sound beyond the continent, dropping hits out of regional collaborations.

Affectionately known as the Don Gorgon, the artist was in his debut Zimbabwean performance while he expressed his plans to come back for another show. Confessing his interest in the country he cited that Zimbabwe is the only nation with a president he would like to meet.

Burna Boy  took another swing at Buffalo Souljah when he was asked if he was going to work on a collaboration with a local artist, “Yes I will collaborate with some artist but not basing on their sound but how they have been received by the public, unlike earlier when you asked me about someone and I’m like who is that?” he said hinting on the previous question where he was asked about Buffalo Souljah.

Arguments around Buffalo Souljah’s popularity has for years been questioned to the extent that at some point he even complained that he has been recognized around the continent but has not been accepted in Zimbabwe despite his multiple awards.
