Manjenjenje, Zvimba – The church has been urged to complement various government efforts set up to improve community livelihoods as the country moves to attain a middle-income economy by the year 2030.

The call was made by Zvimba South Member of the House of Assembly, Dr. Philip Chiyangwa.

Speaking as the guest of honor at a Mugodhi Apostolic Church Spirit Conference in Zvimba, Dr. Chiyangwa said President Emmerson Mnangagwa is leading the government in setting up various developmental programs for communities such as medical institutions and schools and the church should take an active role in complementing such initiatives.

“As a church, you are the custodians of peace that prevail in our country. The onus is on you to support government programs by ensuring that your children are taken to clinics and fees are paid in time for your children in schools. In the communities, the church should actively lead in economic activities through various initiatives being spearheaded by the government,” he addressed the congregants.

Zvimba Rural District Council Ward 3 Councillor, Naison Chivhanga, thanked Chiyangwa for a community hall in the area which was constructed by the MP through the constituency development fund.

“We want to thank the government. Through our MP we now have a community hall in the area after the support of our MP,” he said.
