Zvimba South – Flamboyant Zvimba South Constituency Lawmaker,  Dr. Phillip Chiyangwa who is also the National Chairman for ZANU (PF) fundraising projects, poured ZWL$11 million dollars for community empowerment projects in the area.
In an interview, Dr. Chiyangwa said the money is intended to boost the already different income projects in the eleven party districts in his constituency.
“We started these empowerment projects last year and I promised to pour more money if the initial projects record success. I am happy to see that the various projects are going well so I have put another ZWL$11 million dollars so that communities get empowered financially whilst those in those projects grow their business acumen,” he said.
Poultry, piggery, fish farming, and basic goods manufacturing are some of the projects being undertaken by various groups in Zvimba South Constituency.
Dr. Chiyangwa said the empowerment projects are meant to help accelerate President Emerson Mnangagwa’s vision for ensuring that no people or persons are left behind in the development.
“We are moving with President Emerson Mnangagwa’s vision for ensuring that no place or person is left behind as we move to attain vision 2030 for an upper middle-income economy. We are doing this because financial inclusivity and independence start at grassroots and household levels,” he said.
Dr. Chiyangwa promised another ZWL$ 11 million to be released soon after the completion of the delimitation exercise.
“I will be giving out another ZWL$ 11 million to bring the money to ZWL$ 22 million soon after the delimitation as you know some of the wards may be changed constituencies. In the meantime,  I have released ZWL$ 11 million. The constituents choose which income-generating projects they will embark on,” he told this publication.
Ruponeso De-Souza, a female leading one of the party women’s league empowerment projects, said the money will boost their already running projects.
“We are happy with this gesture as that will help us expand the projects we started last year after the MP had offered some money and we embarked on detergents and soap manufacturing projects which assisted us at household levels,” she said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chiyangwa who is also the Zvimba South Constituency ZANU PF Central Committee member is set to hand over various projects funded under the Constituency Development Fund. The Homecraft Hall in Zvimba’s Ward 22 was recently refurbished.
The hall in Kuwadzana Township used in the past for women and youth skills training had its vandalised electricity, roof, and water system among others restored.
Other projects include a classroom and public hall which were funded through the constituency development funds.
