DStv runs M-Net Movies Men of Action pop-up channel

Some of the filmdom’s biggest male stars are featured in a pop-up channel running on DStv from January 21 to February 6.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicity and public relations manager Liz Dziva said the M-Net Movies Men of Action channel would run a series of top-rate action films, with some of the most admired ‘hard men’ in leading roles.

 “Men of Action features blockbusters and classics starring big names with even bigger guns. The high-octane films include the gritty 21 Bridges, starring the late Chadwick Boseman, the hilarious The Hitman’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds, the fun Snakes on a Plane starring Samuel L. Jackson, Inside Man starring Denzel Washington and A Man Apart starring Vin Diesel,” she said.

          Other channel highlights include:

• American Gangster, one of Denzel Washington’s most celebrated roles, is all about the rise and fall of drug lord Frank Lucas;
• Pacific Rim, starring Idris Elba, a sci-fi action film directed by Guillermo del Toro and set in the future in which Earth is at war with sea monsters.
• Rush Hour, a Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan comedy that is a modern buddy-cop classic, all about a Hong Kong police officer who teams up with a Los Angeles lawman to solve a kidnapping case;
• Central Intelligence, with action hero Dwayne Johnson and funnyman Kevin Hart teaming up for a laugh-a-minute comedy in which a mild-mannered accountant is sucked into the spy game by an old high school pal;
• The Last Witch Hunter, in which Vin Diesel delves into the fantasy subgenre as a witch hunter going after an enemy he thought he had destroyed.

Ms. Dziva said Men of Action (channel 111) would be available to DStv Compact, Compact Plus and Premium customers, with the films also available on DStv Catch Up.

“It’s a high-adrenaline start to 2022 and will have wide appeal to everyone who likes their film action fast,” she said.
