A leading energy and power development firm, Power Giants Southern and East Africa has received yet another feather in its cap after clinching a prestigious accolade – The best Innovative Electrical Engineering Company in Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering at The Annual National Iconic Entrepreneurs Awards held in Harare yesterday.

The vibrant and dynamic firm emerged at the top after shrugging off stiff competition from several electrical engineering companies that were nominated for the prestigious award. The second runner-up was Powerite Electrical while Yadoh Electrical emerged third in the Energy and Solar category.

“We are so much grateful for the award. We thank ogarnisers of the event as the recognition has given us an impetus to continue working hard. We would like to also thank our media partners, local and international business partners, the Power Giants management, ZETDC, ZERA, Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers, the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, Power Giants Regional Director Dr. Evelyn Tinashe Kachirekwa, Harare Institute of Technology University and our valuable clients.

“As Power Giants, we pledge to continue delivering reliable energy infrastructure solutions to stimulate growth in the renewable energy sector which has the potential to improve our economy,” said Power Giants CEO and Transmission Director Engineer Edzai Kachirekwa who received the award on behalf of his organization.

Power Giants has championed the adoption of sustainable renewable energy options and is a leading service provider of clean energy infrastructure such as sub-stations, and solar and wind-powered systems which also helps fight climate change by reducing toxic carbon waste.

This is the fifth award bagged by Power Giants this year, a testament to the positive impact the organisation is making in the communities.

The accolades include The Triumph over Adversity Award, the Best Philanthropic Organisation of 2021 awarded by Zimbabwe Community News, the V-Lab Award by the Harare Institute of Technology University (HIT), the Special Heart Award by Chedenga Foundation and The best Innovative Electrical Engineering Company in Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering at the National Iconic Entrepreneurs Awards – an initiative of the Entrepreneurs Network of Zimbabwe which recognizes innovation, positive impact on the economy of Zimbabwe and employment creation for the betterment of the people.

The minister of Women’s Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprises Dr. Sithembiso Nyoni who was the guest of honour at the event was represented by officials from her ministry.

Apart from the recognition bestowed on Power Giants, the group CEO, Kachirekwa who is a technopreneur, motivational speaker and business mentor has featured prominently on national radio and television, coaching business startups and budding entrepreneurs on how to run successful enterprises and navigate the current unfavourable economic environment, the rough Ndine Thaza show.

The maverick businessman has also immensely contributed to International forums on renewable energy solutions and their economic potential
