Castle Lager, South Africa’s most loved and iconic brand, has joined forces with pan-African sports and entertainment channel, Kwesé Free Sports, to deliver the second edition of Africa’s Premier Social Football League, Africa 5-a-side (Africa 5s), to football fans across the continent.

The partnership will afford football loving fans across the continent an opportunity to tune into Kwesé Free Sports for unrestricted live coverage of the tournaments and enjoy unprecedented free access to premium African 5-a-side football.

The tournament is the first of its kind in the continent and is set to become the hub of where friendships will be created, nurtured and cemented on the football field.

To illustrate the magnitude of the Africa 5s, the tournament has the backing of one of the World’s greatest athletes from Africa, former Cameroonian National Team striker, Samuel Eto’o who is a four-time recipient of the African Footballer of the Year award and has played in three World Cup tournaments.

The Africa 5s tournament is open to players from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland; South Africa and Tanzania, who have been tasked with forming 5-a-side teams with their friends to play the beautiful game, build close circles of camaraderie and share a round of the friendship brew! The 2019 tournament will further include for the first time female teams – spearheaded by South Africa’s renowned female footballer and analyst – Amanda Dlamini.

As Africa’s largest and only pan-African channel, Kwesé Free Sports will broadcast the tournament’s national and continental finals live to an estimated 100 million viewers across Africa. Thanks to Kwesé’s multi-platform approach to broadcasting, viewers on the move will be able to watch the games live on the Kwesé iflix mobile app.

In addition to broadcasting the tournament on its free-to-air (FTA) and mobile viewing platforms, Kwesé will also provide additional coverage of the Castle Africa 5s tournament with updates, highlight specials, expert analysis and exclusive interviews on the broadcaster’s news and magazine shows Kwesé Sports News and Football Fundis.

Since inception in 2016, Kwesé has enjoyed phenomenal growth which has seen it become Africa’s fastest growing media company. As a diversified media business, Kwesé offers FTA, mobile, and digital TV services under one roof. With a presence in over 30 African countries, Kwesé is able to provide multi-territory advertising opportunities to suit any brand looking for wide reach and exposure to audiences across the continent.

“As a pan-African media group we pride ourselves in offering integrated free-to-air, digital and mobile TV advertising packages for clients across the continent. We understand that African audiences have evolved, so too have their needs. This is why we provide tailor made broadcasting and advertising solutions for brands such as Castle looking to reach a vast number of consumers by unlocking access to millions of households through our platforms,” expressed Econet Media President and CEO, Joseph Hundah.

Africa 5s country champions will battle it out for the coveted trophy and continental glory in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 8 – 9 June 2019.

The ultimate winners walk-away with an all-expenses paid trip to a Li Liga match in Barcelona, hosted by the renowned legend Samuel Eto’o.
