One of Cassava Smartech’s insurance arms, Moovah, has entered into a partnership with ZIMPOST to enhance convenience for their customers countrywide.

Speaking during the unveiling of the partnership in Harare on 31 January 2019, Mr. George Nyashanu, the Managing Director of Econet Insurance and Life, said the move was in line with government’s quest to grow insurance inclusion and push insurance penetration from less than 10% to beyond 20% by end of 2019.

“As Cassava Smartech we are playing our part in providing digital solutions to complement the efforts of other players in growing insurance inclusion. To that effect we were approved by IPEC and launched the Econet Insurance business to focus on Short term insurance in July 2018. This was followed by the unveiling of the first consumer brand Moovah for Vehicle Licensing on the 18th of July 2018.

“The introduction of Moovah has changed the game and enhanced convenience as customers can renew their vehicle insurance, ZINARA and ZBC via their mobile phone with multiple payment options and option for free delivery to their doorstep. As part of incorporating market feedback we have now grown the touch-points from just the phone and are now also allowing people to walk in and be able to conveniently buy their insurance , ZINARA and ZBC discs at a dedicated counter in ZIMPOST outlets,” Mr. Nyashanu said.

In corroboration, Chief Sifundo Moyo, the Acting Managing Director of ZIMPOST said the move was in sync with his organisation’s vision of providing innovative, physical and digital postal solutions to the people, businesses and the Government of Zimbabwe.

He said ZIMPOST plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the government’s objective of covering every Zimbabwean in the financial inclusion matrix is achieved since financial inclusion goes beyond banking activities, money transfers but also includes insurance services.

“Today, two powerful brands, ZIMPOST and Econet Insurance, have combined their forces to ensure that every Zimbabwean has more choices, more convenience and certainly more satisfaction from quality insurance services.

“The strength of the ZIMPOST physical network and the cutting edge technology solutions from Econet will certainly bring excitement to the market and deliver exciting products and services in the most convenient way,” Mr. Moyo said.

ZIMPOST brings to the table a huge network of over 250 branches nationwide and these will be used as serving points for customers who wish to buy insurance products and other products. Econet customers will be able to walk in at any ZIMPOST branch and be able to buy Econet products, and they can also walk into Econet Shops and buy ZIMPOST products.

Mr. Moyo added that the setting up of ZIMPOST post office points within the Econet shops further enhances ZIMPOST footprint in the market and ensures that the people of Zimbabwe have a full menu of products and services from as many sites or outlets as possible. This will reduce the postal density significantly and will promote the organisations’ desire to deliver on their mandates.
