“We at MultiChoice are pleased to present this screening today and we are especially pleased to be able to do so at the St Joseph’s Home For Boys, where we have been given a very warm welcome by the staff and the boys themselves. I hope everyone has an enjoyable afternoon and evening, as we watch the opening ceremony and the first match of the tournament.

“This coverage is of course presented on SuperSport, which gives DStv viewers direct access to all the best sport in the world, 24/7, 365 days a year. All 64 games of the tournament are being presented live, right up to the final on the evening of Sunday July 15. In addition, there are unequalled levels of previews and reviews throughout the tournament, presented by the experts whose skill and experience is brought exclusively to viewers by SuperSport,” said Elizabeth Dziva, the MultiChoice Zimbabwe Publicity and Public Relations Manager.

St Joseph’s House for Boys has a long and successful tradition of providing meaningful support and care for young men who might otherwise find themselves in very unpleasant situations.

The forerunner of the home came into being in 1936 as a result of efforts by an Anglican priest, the Reverend O W L Skey, with the first boys staying at his home. In 1939 the first St Joseph’s House for Boys opened in what is now Nelson Mandela Avenue, and then the building for the home was erected in 1953 before being moved to its current station.

Media reports say the home was founded to promote habits of obedience, discipline, reverence and self-respect. The home celebrates its 80th birthday next year.

“MultiChoice Zimbabwe plays an important role in this country, not only representing MultiChoice Africa but also in helping serve the community. I hope that in this and coming years we will be able to support the efforts of the staff here in providing love and care and shelter to these wonderful young men, who are the citizens of tomorrow and some of whom may well be our leaders of tomorrow,” Dziva said
