Due to their overwhelming generosity, the Operation of Hope has has so far completed 45 cases of burn, cleft lip and palate surgeries during the six days of surgery at Mpilo Central Hospital in Zimbabwe and the majority of these cases were children. Another man had his nose rebuilt after a car crash.
“With money raised during the Calgary 2018 Fundraiser, two cleft lip kits and two cleft palate kits were purchased for the Operation of Hope teams. These instruments will now travel the world with the different volunteer teams, helping to treat patients.
“Sadly, the volunteers also saw a large number of burn victims as many household kitchens throughout Zimbabwe use open cooking fires. Through their generosity, however, we were able to purchase a new Dermatome instrument (used for harvesting skin graphs) and this will now be permanently available to the Surgeons at the Mpilo Central Hospital,” said Jennifer Mora Trubenbach, the President of Operation of Hope.
She announced a new partnership with Operation of Hope and said for 2019, the Calgary-based team of volunteers are the new Directors of Global Aid Society, a Canadian based charitable organisation and revealed that tax receipts will now be available for all Canadian donations.
