Prof. Aslan in solo art exhibition of “Anatolia” at Turkish Embassy

Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University – Faculty of Fine Arts – Ceramics and Glass Department Head Associate Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan’s solo exhibition “Anatolia” (Turkey) was held at the Turkish Embassy in Harare between 6-8 May 2022 under the auspices of H.E. Hakan Kivanc, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Harare.

The exhibition, which was opened by H.E. Ambassador Hakan Kivanc, was attended by several diplomatic missions and Zimbabwean art lovers, as well as Zimbabwe National Gallery’s Executive Director Raphael Chikukwa.

Having received information about 20 leather relief works, all of which are hand-made, a decision was taken between Mr. Chikukwa and Mr. Aslan to have joint cooperation between Zimbabwe Art School and Ondokuz Mayıs University in areas such as art studies, exhibitions, and student exchanges.

Expressing his views on the leather relief works in the exhibition, Mr. Chikukwa stated that there are very successful works with high artistic value and that multicultural works can be produced and promoted together with stone sculptures in Zimbabwe.

In the exhibition, the leather relief portrait of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding leader of the Republic of Turkey, made by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan, was presented to H.E. Ambassador Hakan Kivanc.
