Tatenda Mahachi rekindles love with South African fans

Tatenda Mahachi rekindled his love with South African fans at a memorable gig that was sold out in Durban. It was his first appearance since the passing on of his friend Sifiso Ncwane with whom he had collaborated at many shows in that country.

Internationally renowned artists like Sipho Makhabane, Deborah Fraser and Ayanda Shande, among others, graced the event. On the day, a new gospel music group, Abathandwa, was unveiled.

“The Abathandwa group chose me to be the main performer at their launch so as to show the love I had for my late friend Sifiso Ncawe whom I have worked with for quite a long time. I greatly miss him,” Mahachi said.

The Ndisiye hit maker was introduced to perform on stage at exactly midnight and was welcomed with wild screams from the estimated 5000 fans who were packed in the Durban Convention Centre.

“I’m so happy and I thank my fans very much for showing up in such great numbers. I was not expecting to see such a huge crowd,” Mahachi said

Mahachi thrilled the fans when he belted out different hit songs from his album Declarations. He opened the show with a track called Naye Jesu that drove fans off their seats as they sang along with the artist.

The gospel singer churned out various songs which include Ndiye Nzira, Tichamuona and Ndisiye (featuring the legend Oliver Mtukudzi) which is currently the hit song regionally.

The Abathandwa accapella group which was unveiled to the public gave an outstanding performance took fans on the memory lane when they performed accapella cover songs for the late musician Sifiso Ncwane which includes Bayethe and Kulungile.

Mahachi’s last performance of Ndinomuda Jesu at this memorable night left the crowd crying he dedicated the song in honor of Sifiso Ncwane. The original song is the collaboration between the two artists.
