FC Prisons Stars and ZRP Harare FC will be representing the uniformed forces in the Zimbabwe Football Association Northern Region Soccer League Division One after being promoted from the lower league in Harare Province.

The two teams will join Mwos FC, Omnia Football Club from Mashonaland West Division 2 league, Shamva Mine Football Club, and Concession United Football Club as newcomers to the competitive Division one league.

In a statement ZIFA Northern Region Division One Chairperson, Martin Kweza confirmed the six teams’ promotion.

In the Mashonaland West Division 2A league, Golden Valley got relegated with 32 points sitting on position 14 whilst CUMA Academy failed to survive relegation on position 15 with 31 points. Harare City Cubs were also relegated whilst sitting on position 16 with 24 points. Cam and Motor Football Club booted out with 14 points whilst perched on position 17.

Meanwhile, financial challenges in the lower leagues which struggle to draw sponsorship have affected many teams with some failing to fulfill fixtures.

Kweza said the six teams will be playing in the Northern Region Soccer League provided they also meet certain set requirements.
