Zimnat, a diversified financial services group in Zimbabwe, is sending a team of six runners to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, Africa’s first Abbot Major Marathon. The team includes four staff members, one strategic partner, and one customer, Lilian Chivasa, who won an all-expenses-paid trip to the marathon in a social media challenge.
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is one of the six major marathons in the world, and it is the only one in Africa. The event is sponsored by the Sanlam Group, Africa’s largest non-banking financial services provider. Zimnat is associated with the Sanlam Group since 2017.
Speaking on the sidelines of the team’s departure for Cape Town, Zimnat Group Marketing Executive Tatenda Marongwe said, “As an organisation that is true to its purpose of making life better, we value our Zimnat tribe’s wellbeing that includes all members of our ecosystem that’s why you will see that our team is made up of staff, partners as well as our customers. We believe that a better life of Confidence starts when one is constantly challenging themselves both mentally and physically to stay fit, that is why sending this team to the marathon was an important decision for us. We hope to provide our Zimnat tribe with more exciting opportunities like these ones that spur them to live better lives.”
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon holds a special place in the running community as it is Africa’s only Abbott Major Marathon, one of only six similar marathons in the world. The event attracts elite athletes and running enthusiasts from around the globe, offering a platform to showcase their skills and endurance. The event will be held on October 14-15, 2023. The race will start and finish at the DHL Stadium in Green Point, Cape Town. The course will take runners through some of the city’s most scenic areas, including Table Mountain, Robben Island, and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
